Heidi could not have done this alone, it's a Victory for all of Athens

In 2002, Heidi Davison ran for Mayor on the promise that she would listen to the Athens community. Heidi heard what you said, and she went to work:

Opening up local government to diverse voices on citizen committees and seeking out fresh ideas and new leadership from all parts of the Athens community.
Protecting and Strengthening our Neighborhoods by leading in the creation of the Community Protection Division and the Neighborhood Notification Initiative.
Creating tough new environmental protections, including a strong tree ordinance, increased green space, broader stream buffers, restrictions on mass grading, and energy-efficiency requirements on all new government buildings.
Improving Public Safety by adding more police officers and a new Crime Analyst.
Helping those in need by fighting for funding for mental health services, the Neighborhood Health Clinic, and increased bus service, and by leading the effort to create Partners for a Prosperous Athens.
Working closely with UGA to create a town-and-gown relationship that is stronger than ever.

Under Heidi's leadership, Athens has gained national recognition for being a great place to live, work, play, and retire.
